The bill was presented by the councilwoman this October and will proceed to a vote. If approved, the patient will have the right to receive the medication, provided it is duly authorized by a court order or prescribed by a medical professional accompanied by the appropriate medical report for the prescription in municipal public health units. The expenses resulting from the implementation of the law will be covered by the patients' own budget allocations and supplemented, if necessary.

Elzuila emphasizes that the issue under discussion is specifically focused on medicinal products, without any promotion of recreational drug use. "These are products capable of helping in the treatment of various people with diseases such as epilepsy, Parkinson's, schizophrenia, and others. We need to break this taboo, clarify the difference between medicinal and recreational use, and take this step so that those who really need it can have a better quality of life," said the parliamentarian.
