Doctor and entrepreneur Mariana Maciel, from Paraopeba, Minas Gerais, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit of the United Nations Peace Forces, becoming the first medical cannabis professional in the world to receive this international recognition. The ceremony took place on November 27th at the Institute of Engineering in São Paulo (SP).

The tribute highlights Mariana's trajectory, marked by scientific research and innovation. In Canada, she developed the world's first nanocannabinoid, a technology that enhanced cannabinoid absorption by the body, which became the basis for the PowerNano nanodrug from Thronus Medical.

Furthermore, she is the author of the book The Endocannabinoid Revolution, a work that covers the advances in cannabinoid medicine.

For those following the development of medical cannabis, the honor represents more than a prestigious trophy. It is a symbolic milestone: the consolidation of years of work based on science, technology, and social commitment, which now gains international visibility.

This recognition also sheds light on the transformative potential of cannabinoid research in Brazil and worldwide, reinforcing that the pursuit of innovation in the medical cannabis field is being pursued with technical rigor and deserves more than visibility: it deserves support, respect, and investment.
