Rio Grande do Sul to host 3rd Gaúcho Medicinal Cannabis and Industrial Hemp Symposium in December

Between December 4th and 5th, 2025, Rio Grande do Sul will be the stage for a crucial debate for the future of health and agribusiness in the country. The University of Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC) will host the 3rd Gaúcho Medicinal Cannabis and Industrial Hemp Symposium, an event that promises to bring together science, regulation, and market perspectives in two days of immersion.

With the central theme focused on the sector's evolution, the program was designed to cater to both healthcare professionals and those interested in the production chain. The first day focuses on the "Cannabis & Health: Together in Treatment" axis, addressing responsible prescription, the impact of cannabis on mental health, and the fundamental role of patient associations. The veterinary sector will also be highlighted, with discussions on perspectives for use in pets.

The second day shifts the focus to economic development with the theme "From Framework to Field". The emphasis will be on prospective regulation, applied research, and agricultural policy, discussing the future of industrial hemp in Brazil as a new frontier for agribusiness.

The symposium features the confirmation of authorities and heavyweight experts, including Alessandra Bastos, regulatory consultant and former director of Anvisa; Beatriz Emygdio, researcher at Embrapa and columnist for Portal Sechat; as well as the expected participation of the Secretary of Agriculture of Rio Grande do Sul and others.
