From January 8 to 26, the Brazilian Cannabis Museum will be open to the public to host the first cultural exhibition about the plant. Located in João Pessoa, Paraíba, the event aims to break the stigma surrounding the Cannabis sativa plant, commonly known as marijuana. Thus, the space will offer information, awareness, and clarification for those who wish to delve deeper or learn about the medicinal and industrial potential of the plant.

The museum is open Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM. To visit the exhibition, a donation of 2 kg of non-perishable food is required. In addition to showcasing the artworks, the Museum aims to provide a space for dialogue about cannabis, its medicinal and industrial use.

Cannabis Art

In total, eight artists from various regions of the country will be present showcasing their works, including photographer Jonas Tavares, owner of the project THCamera, and communicator Majô Molieri, responsible for the digital magazine Majuína. The event will feature illustrations, graffiti, crafts, paintings, and graphic design.

According to Jonas, who built his entire journey outside Brazil, participating in the exhibition is a great personal achievement. Excited for his first presentation in Brazilian lands, the photographer celebrates the opportunity to be close to his audience and emphasizes the importance of the Museum for the cannabis movement.

“Having a place like this to showcase our struggle and our art is incredible. Even in the artistic world, there is a taboo around the topic of ‘drugs’. My goal is to give a new perspective to the plant, so that people see it from another point of view, without any prejudice,” says Jonas Tavares.

The call for the first cultural exhibition of the Brazilian Cannabis Museum, where artists had the opportunity to submit their projects, took place from November 8 to 20, 2023. During this period, 30 people submitted their works for the committee's review.

The Brazilian Cannabis Museum is an initiative of the Brazilian Association for Cannabis Support (Abrace) and is located at Parque Solón de Lucena 675, Centro - João Pessoa (PB).
