In episode #47 of Deusa Cast, lawyer and columnist of Portal Sechat, Carla Coutinho brought valuable guidance for those who use cannabis therapeutically and need to travel. The specialist in cannabis law emphasized that the transportation of cannabis oil, as long as accompanied by a medical prescription, is allowed in national territory.
“If you are using oil and have a medical prescription, I don't see any problem. Go ahead, because you are not doing anything wrong, you are taking care of your health and your fundamental right,” advised the lawyer.

On the other hand, transporting flowers or seeds, even with a prescription, is still considered risky in Brazil. Carla explains that, without a safe-conduct (judicial authorization obtained via Habeas Corpus), the substance is likely to be retained during airport inspections. “I do not recommend traveling with flowers, even within Brazil. I find it risky and precarious because the police protocol is very strict. Until you explain, you may miss your flight and go through unnecessary embarrassment,” she warned.
And what about international travel?
Attention must be doubled. Each country has its own rules regarding the use and transportation of medical cannabis, and not knowing them can lead to serious legal issues.
“It is important to understand the legislation of the destination country. In places like Portugal or the United States, for example, you cannot take cannabis, even with a prescription. On the other hand, from Portugal to Brazil, if there is a safe-conduct and prescription, I don't see a problem,” Carla explained.
The lawyer emphasizes that it is ideal to consult local legislation and avoid transporting any cannabis product without legal support.
The episode also addresses topics such as the right to health, the challenges of self-cultivation with Habeas Corpus, and Carla's personal experience with the medicinal use of the plant, including her journey of self-care and overcoming burnout, check it out:
