In this scenario, full spectrum cannabis oil has stood out. Unlike isolated cannabidiol (CBD), full spectrum extracts maintain other natural compounds from the plant.

This includes terpenes and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in controlled concentrations. This combination enhances therapeutic effects through the so-called "entourage effect", a synergy that occurs among all plant compounds.

The medication acts through receptors of the endocannabinoid system, mainly located in the central nervous system. This system regulates essential functions such as pain, mood, appetite, inflammatory response, and immunity.

When activated in a balanced way, the endocannabinoid system can help the body correct various physiological imbalances. Studies indicate that full spectrum medications are well tolerated and often require lower doses than formulations with isolated CBD to achieve the same effects.

According to orthopedist Frederico Barra, PhD in Health Sciences and adjunct professor at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), this difference is due to the "entourage effect". "To achieve the same effect, doses of full spectrum medication can be up to four times lower than those of a product with isolated CBD," says the specialist.

Protocol and care

The doctor explains that cannabidiol is not indicated for acute pain, but has proven to be an important ally in managing chronic pains, such as those caused by musculoskeletal diseases.

However, treatment should be done under regular medical supervision. When THC is present, as in full spectrum cannabidiol extracts, extra care is needed in adjusting the dose.

The protocol involves clinical exams before starting use and weekly monitoring during the adjustment period. "Treatment should always start with the lowest possible dose, and the increase should be done gradually," explains Barra.

According to him, the ideal dose can provide up to 80% improvement in symptoms. "After this milestone, in many cases, it is possible to reduce or even suspend other medications within a period of about three months."
