Cannabinoid Therapy Offers Hope for Previously Desperate Patients

In a reflection on the advances in the use of cannabis for the treatment of various pathologies, disorders, and syndromes, Maria Klien, a psychologist and cannabis entrepreneur, highlights the transformation in medicine with the discovery of the Endocannabinoid System. Before cannabinoid therapy, many patients were sentenced to live with untreatable medical conditions. However, today, thanks to the benefits of cannabis, a new era opens up, where diagnosis is no longer a death sentence.

Maria Klien emphasizes that, especially for patients with mental health conditions that do not respond to traditional medications and for those suffering from refractory pain insensitive to opioids, cannabis offers a new hope for relief and quality of life.

Despite these promising advances, Maria points out that there is still a significant portion of patients and doctors trapped in cultural taboos. She notes that often, due to ignorance or resistance, ineffective treatments are still resorted to.

In addition to her work as a cannabis industry entrepreneur, Maria Klien is also a founding partner of Instituto Gaia, where she carries out projects in collaboration with the government.
