The Cannabis Medicinal and Industrial Hemp Parliamentary Front of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) will hold its 3rd public hearing next Thursday (09/04) at 10 am in the Teotônio Vilela Auditorium. The meeting, coordinated by State Deputy Caio França (PSB) and co-coordinated by Deputy Eduardo Suplicy (PT), will mark the launch of the 3rd parliamentary amendments tender, which will allocate R$ 1.25 million to projects in the areas of health, science, innovation, education, culture, communication, and social impact.

On this occasion, the coordinator of the Cannabidiol Working Group of the State Department of Health, Dr. José Luiz Gomes do Amaral, will present the balance of the first year of cannabis distribution in the São Paulo public health system, in compliance with State Law No. 17,618/2023.

Another central point of the hearing will be the presentation of a motion appealing to Anvisa to reassess the draft that limits the THC content in cannabis cultivation to 0.3%. According to the Front, this parameter is unfeasible for the tropical climate and contrasts with judicial decisions and with the approval of medications available in pharmacies that contain a higher proportion of the substance.

The event will also formalize the new composition of the Front's Deliberative Council for the 2025/2027 management, which will have representatives from academia, health, and civil society.
