Sechat exclusively reveals the unprecedented survey conducted by Tree Intelligence that shows who the most influential doctors in the world of medicinal Cannabis in Brazil are. The list is led by women and younger professionals.

With an estimated potential of 4.3 billion reais, the medicinal Cannabis market in Brazil has become a point of interest for investors, entrepreneurs, and, of course, health professionals.

To better understand the relationships between these agents, especially those who prescribe plant-based medications, the consultancy, through its proprietary platform LivingReports, mapped over 800 stakeholders and their digital presence.

Through data analysis and network science, it was identified who the most influential actors in the debate about the use of medicinal Cannabis in Brazil are.

At the center of the network are about 50 names, including doctors, clinics, universities, and research centers. The list features well-known names to the general public, such as Drauzio Varella, Lair Ribeiro, and Mohamad Ali Barakat, but they are only tangentially related to the topic.

In the mapping, Tree discovered that there is a cohesive and highly connected community when it comes to medicinal Cannabis. With connections among themselves and with other actors in the segment, such as patient associations, social activists, and companies, these doctors help to broaden the debate on the medicinal use of the herb in Brazil, discussing therapeutic approaches, research lines, clinical indications, and fields of action.

Profile

These professionals are young, with recent registrations in the Regional Medical Councils (46.6% since 2001), primarily work in the Southeast Region, and predominantly operate in the fields of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Neurosciences.

With greater presence and digital activity compared to the medical community in general, the most used social media platforms by them are Instagram (46.6%) and Facebook (46.4%).

Men make up the majority (50.8%), but women (43%) are more influential, meaning they reach more people and have a greater potential for impact in the digital environment (6.1% are profiles of legal entities).

In this group of “cannabis influencers,” Tree identified, among others, the doctors Paula Dall’Stella, Carolina Nocetti, Ana Gabriela Baptista, and Ana Gabriela Hounie.

The Survey

The complete study by Tree Intelligence will be launched this Thursday (23) and will be accessible through an interactive and updated online dashboard called LivingReport.

The goal is to provide support for strategic decision-making for agents who wish to communicate with these audiences, such as pharmaceutical industries, companies importing cannabis-based medications, investors, researchers, clinics, and medical centers.
