It wasn't just any hangout. Even before his first contact with the substance through adult use, Filipe Pereira Santos, better known as Fil Santos, was already studying the Cannabis sativa L. plant with the curiosity of someone who sensed there was something greater there.

“Before lighting up the first joint, I had already studied a lot, watched documentaries, read some books... when I finally went to try it, it already became part of my routine,” he says, becoming one of the most talked-about names on social media when it comes to talking about cannabis with humor, lightness, and that touch of irreverence that breaks prejudices without asking for permission.

Creatively High

Among jokes that go viral and videos that make thousands laugh and reflect, the comedian acknowledges that cannabis plays a central role in his creative process. “It's like a 'creativity tadala',” he jokes. “For someone who is a comedian, it's gold: laughter comes easily, everyday situations gain a humor that sometimes 'only when high' can be seen,” he explains. This comedic lens with a green filter is what connects his content with an increasingly broad and engaged audience.

Fil saw his life change with a single reels: “I already lost a friend to weed... I forgot where he was.” The seemingly unpretentious joke hit 25 million views and opened doors to a new phase.

“I started to be recognized by stoners from all over Brazil,” he recalls. That's when he understood: laughing about cannabis, in his style, was also a way to give voice and support to those who often feel marginalized.

"Don't take life so seriously"

If he had to summarize his philosophy, Fil doesn't hesitate: “Don't take life so seriously.” This phrase is not just a punchline, it's a lifestyle. It's with this that he balances between the meme and the activism, between social criticism and the 30-second video. Because, yes, Fil's content goes beyond jokes. “I received messages from people saying that the videos helped them get out of a funk, out of depression... then I realized it was bigger than I thought,” he reveals. “If besides laughter I help break prejudice and make those who smoke feel less judged, I'm doing the right thing,” he points out.

Information is the New Joint

For Fil, Brazil is still taking baby steps in the discussion about cannabis regulation. And the main obstacle is not just political, but cultural. “The biggest problem is this badly spoken gossip about the plant,” he summarizes. “Many people have prejudice because they have never received real information, they've only heard wrong stories.” The key, according to him, lies in education, science, and law. “When the conversation turns to science and law, that's when the game truly changes,” analyzes the comedian.

Fil Santos is not just doing comedy: he is, unpretentiously and with a lot of charisma, helping to build a new narrative about cannabis in Brazil. One that fits in memes, but also in serious conversations. One that laughs, but also resists. Because, as he himself says, being high is also a citizen and has a lot to say.
