Avaay Medical and the German club announced a new stage of the partnership. In the last week of August, the company became the Top Sponsor of 1. FC Union Berlin for the 2025/26 season.
The move represents the expansion of the bond with Sanity Group, founded in 2018 in Berlin, with the club. Avaay Medical was already sponsoring Union, but the novelty lies in the sponsorship level upgrade. Among the company's investors are well-known names like Mario Götze, André Schürrle, and Dennis Aogo.
The 25/26 Bundesliga has already started, and Union Berlin began with a victory. In the debut, the team defeated Stuttgart 2-1. According to market data, the Union Berlin squad is valued at around €124.4 million.
Medical cannabis and awareness
Through the partnership, the company and Union Berlin are set to launch informative campaigns, educational initiatives, and debate formats. The goal is to increase public awareness of the responsible and supervised use of medical cannabis.
“We are very happy to continue being part of the Union family and to leverage the close connection between sports and health to increase awareness,” stated Finn Hänsel, founder and managing director of Avaay Medical.
In the same vein, Bernd von Geldern, Marketing Executive Director of Union Berlin, emphasized, “Educating people about the sensible use of medical cannabis in therapies supervised by doctors, as well as the risks of misuse, is an important concern".
