The Cannabis Connection 2025 will be held on November 6th, in São Paulo, gathering around 300 participants, including market leaders, experts, and representatives from public and private entities. The meeting, considered one of the most strategic in the cannabis industry in Latin America, will take place in an intimate format, at Av. Juscelino Kubitschek, 1600, focusing on high-level discussions and relevant networking.

The event occurs at a crucial moment for the sector in Brazil. The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) is expected to announce in December the updates to RDC 327/2019, the regulation that governs the manufacturing, prescription, and commercialization of cannabis-based products. The public consultation received over 1,500 contributions and discusses advancements such as:

- Expansion of administration routes (including sublingual and dermatological);

- Adjustments to prescriptions;

- Possibility of compounding with cannabidiol;

- Flexibility in advertising aimed at prescribing physicians.

Another point of great expectation is the regulation of cannabis cultivation in the country. The federal government has committed to presenting a proposal by the end of September to allow cultivation for medicinal and industrial purposes — a long-awaited topic by the entire production chain.

The event is also expected to address the next steps of RDC 660/2022, which deals with the exceptional importation of products by patients, as well as the appointment of new Anvisa directors. Last Tuesday (19), the Senate Plenary approved the names nominated for the agency's board. For the position of director-president, Leandro Pinheiro Safatle received 54 favorable votes and only two against. The nomination of Thiago Lopes Cardoso Campos was approved with 49 votes in favor and five against. Finally, Daniela Marreco Cerqueira was confirmed with 59 favorable votes and one abstention. The nominees now await official inauguration, still without a defined date.

“More than an event, Cannabis Connection is a space for collective construction, discussing access to medicinal cannabis in Brazil through all possible channels. Our goal is to provide information, foster debate, and connect the public, private, and market sectors to promote health and quality of life for those in need. We also seek to encourage research for the development of therapies for various pathologies, including rarer cases, where cannabis has transformed lives. For this, it is essential that regulatory advancements, science, and the market progress together, always focusing on the health and well-being of patients, ensuring Brazil a safe regulatory environment for the development of the entire production chain, from cultivation to the product reaching patients’ homes,” state the organizers.
