(CBC), (CBG), (CBN), (CBDL), (THC), (CBD): cannabis is not a "soup of letters"
Understand the therapeutic benefits of cannabis and the importance of medical knowledge

More than 60 million Brazilians face diseases that can be treated with medicinal cannabis. The challenge is that only 0.5% of the country's doctors have in-depth knowledge of the endocannabinoid system. We can say that this is a barrier that hinders safe prescription and effective monitoring of these pathologies. On the other hand, there is a growing demand from patients and their families seeking the benefits of cannabis therapy.
With over 500 compounds, with at least 104 cannabinoids identified, cannabis presents itself as a promising therapeutic alternative. Plant compounds known as phytocannabinoids are found in the flowers, leaves, and stem. They mimic or neutralize the endocannabinoids naturally produced by the human body, triggering cellular events that impact activity, gene regulation, and signals sent to neighboring cells.
The most studied phytocannabinoids, also known simply as cannabinoids, are THC, as the psychoactive constituent present predominantly in the plant, and cannabidiol (CBD), which does not have significant psychoactive effects. However, there are other compounds classified as cannabichromene (CBC), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabinol (CBN), cannabidiol (CBDL); tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV); which have specific benefits and can be used in the treatment of various symptoms.

According to Dr. Pedro Pierro, a neurosurgeon and scientific director of Sechat, endocannabinoid medicine requires broad knowledge to prescribe the best therapeutic option, tailored to the needs of each pathology.
"There are people who consider themselves knowledgeable in all areas, but the plant is almost a Pareto. It represents 80% of the treatment, but it needs 20% of the follow-up from a professional who understands the subject for the outcome to be favorable for the patient," Pierro states.
Cannabis is a universe of possibilities where cannabinoids can and should be used in medicine as long as the specification of each of them is respected according to the needs of the pathology. "Cannabis is not a silver bullet. It's not for everything, but it can be for everyone," concludes.
The experience of former student Nair Hebling and the demystification of cannabis

Nair Hebling, a physiatrist and acupuncturist, stands out as an example by seeking to deepen her knowledge of medicinal cannabis in the 2nd Class of Sechat Academy for doctors, held in August 2023.
She says that many people have concerns about side effects and addiction. Based on her experience, the professional affirms that cannabis is a safe therapy. "It is a very safe administration. Obviously, there are interactions with other medications that we must consider, but it is safer than many things that people have been taking for a long time," Hebling clarifies.
The treatment of chronic pain and the healthy option of Cannabis
With a life dedicated to medicine, Nair Hebling focuses on the treatment of chronic pain. Amid polypharmacy patients, she points out that many traditional analgesics have more side effects than cannabis.
"My patients come in polypharmacy. Many analgesics have more side effects than cannabis. It is a safe path and a healthy treatment option that works," Hebling reports.
