The district of Guaianases, in the East Zone of São Paulo, will host on December 6, 2025, the event "Cannabis in the Community", a social action aimed at expanding access to health and providing clear and reliable information on the medical use of the plant and its derivatives. The initiative, carried out in partnership with Espaço TEAbraçar, focuses on assisting families in vulnerable situations, ensuring medical care, legal guidance, and free training for patients and their families.

The project stems from the inspiring journey of Priscila Priori and Manoel Aparecido de Jesus, residents of the region who live with blindness and diabetes. About two years ago, both started using cannabinoids as part of their treatments and saw profound changes in their quality of life, symptom control, and autonomy.

"The benefits that this treatment brought to our lives are countless, so our desire is for it to reach as many people as possible," highlights Priscila. The experience of the two has turned into a community movement that now seeks to democratize access to innovative care, especially for those facing greater economic and social barriers.
Several national studies confirm this inequality.

Reports from IBGE (2023) show that peripheral neighborhoods have a significant gap in the provision of qualified health care, especially in continuous monitoring and access to alternative therapies.

An essential partner in this action, Espaço TEAbraçar has been working for years on the inclusion of neurodivergent individuals and strengthening families in needy areas of the city of São Paulo. The institution offers socio-educational activities, psychological support, workshops, and guidance for families dealing with ASD, ADHD, and other conditions. Its presence in the project expands the reach of the event and strengthens the commitment to a more informed, welcoming, and empowered community.

In addition to the services provided, the event will have a strong focus on training and education. Patients and families will participate in educational sessions on health rights, such as accessing medical cannabis for free, legal pathways for authorizations, and safe information on therapeutic use. The goal is to create autonomy and reduce misinformation, strengthening the care network within the community itself.

During "Cannabis in the Community", there will be care for various pathologies, including chronic pain, epilepsy, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, anxiety, insomnia, neurological conditions, and not just issues related to ASD. The legal team will also be present to guide families on their rights, access to the public health system, regulatory processes, and document support.

Those interested in participating in the event or seeking more information can contact the organization directly.
