4th Brazilian Medicinal Cannabis Congress starts today in São Paulo
Event brings together over 100 speakers and establishes itself as the largest in Latin America in medicinal cannabis

The 4th edition of the Brazilian Medicinal Cannabis Congress begins today (22) at 9 am, the main scientific and professional event in Latin America dedicated to promoting innovations and advances in the medicinal use of cannabis. The congress runs until Saturday (24) at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, Brazil, and is expected to gather over 1,200 attendees, along with more than 100 national and international speakers.
On this first day, the congress features two modules of great importance for the sector: Business Cannabis and VetCannabis, both with programming until 8 pm. The public can follow the event.

The congress ticket also grants access to the Medical Cannabis Fair, a parallel event considered the most relevant in the country for healthcare professionals, researchers, and companies in the sector. The fair brings together national and international exhibitors focusing on scientific innovations and the medicinal cannabis and industrial hemp market.
Business Cannabis: expanding market and new opportunities
The Business Cannabis module is aimed at entrepreneurs, professionals, and investors interested in strategically operating in the cannabis sector, one of the most dynamic in the new economy. Experts and market leaders will share updated data, trends, regulatory opportunities, business models, and success stories showcasing the potential of the medicinal cannabis and hemp ecosystem.
Among the speakers are Maria Eugenia Riscala, CEO and Co-founder of Kaya Mind, Bruno Pegoraro, President of Instituto Fícus. Also taking the stage are Augustin Mimbacas, Export Promotion specialist, and Danilo Lang, Founder and Director of Cannabis Jobs, and others.
Market projections:
- Legal cannabis generated over $57 billion worldwide in 2023, with expectations to exceed $100 billion by 2028;
- In Latin America, the sector could reach $1.2 billion by 2026, with Brazil leading in the number of patients and regulatory advancements;
- The industrial hemp market already moves over $6 billion and has applications in areas such as construction, fashion, food, cosmetics, and bioplastics.

VetCannabis: medicinal cannabis for animals
The VetCannabis module presents the advances and therapeutic possibilities of cannabis in caring for domestic and production animals. Since the publication of Resolution No. 1,465/2022 by CFMV, veterinarians have legal authorization to prescribe cannabis-based products, expanding their scope of practice in veterinary clinics and Integrative Veterinary Medicine.
The module will discuss regulatory aspects, scientific advances, ethical challenges, and present real clinical cases of cannabis use in pets. Confirmed speakers include researchers Daniela Bittencourt and José Rodrigo Pandolfi, both from Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation).
Also, veterinarians Caroline Campagnone, Neide Maria Griebeler, and Erik Amazonas, cannabis specialist lawyer Marcela Sanches, and other experts on the subject.
Upcoming days' schedule
The Brazilian Medicinal Cannabis Congress program continues in the upcoming days with various specialized modules covering different areas of knowledge and application of cannabis. On Friday, the 23rd, the Agro Tech Cannabis takes place, focusing on technological innovations and practices in plant cultivation, along with the MedCan: Endocannabinoid System module, exploring the physiological basis of cannabinoid interaction with the human body.
On Saturday, the 24th, the event features the MedCan: Medical Specialties modules, focusing on clinical applications of cannabis in different medical areas, and Odonto Cannabis, discussing the plant's therapeutic use in dental contexts.
