Brasília hosts congress on autism and the medicinal use of cannabis
In a free lecture, an expert discusses the effectiveness of treatment with medicinal cannabis

The first edition of the Congress Autism in Focus is being held in Brasília, at the IDP headquarters, until July 23. The event, organized by the Steinkopf Institute, aims to share quality and up-to-date information about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with society.
To discuss the topic, there will be round tables, workshops, and other activities. One of the highlights of the congress is the launch of the Autism Map Brazil, a non-governmental research project on autism.
The program also includes several free lectures that will be streamed on YouTube during the pre-congress. Among the topics covered is the use of cannabidiol in autism spectrum disorder.
According to pediatric neurologist Flávio Alves, cannabinol is a very promising treatment, and the lecture will clarify the main doubts about the subject.
“CBD aids attention functions, helps improve understanding and perception of the environment. It also reduces agitation and improves aggressive and self-aggressive behaviors. So, it is a very promising treatment that has brought good results, and we have good scientific evidence,” explains the doctor, who is also the director of the Pan-American Cannabinoid Medicine Association (APMC).
