By editorial team Sechat

Cannabis is on the agenda. While the Brazilian market grows and prepares for an opening following global trends, the periphery faces misinformation, criminalization, and a lack of knowledge about the benefits of the plant. Therefore, discussing the topic in peripheral territories, providing quality knowledge in a simple way is the focus of Legado Talks, which will take place on June 24th in the Paraisópolis favela.

The event, led by Renata Alves, a community leader and health advisor, emerges as an initiative to open the debate about the plant, aiming to eliminate stereotypes and prejudices among residents.

“It is more than necessary to talk about cannabis in peripheral territories. Many residents hear the news that there will be cannabis medicine available through the SUS and have no idea how this can be present in their lives, as marijuana is considered a drug, period. Explaining what is happening in an easy way is our mission,” says Ranta, who reminds that in addition to all the medicinal aspects, the plant has enormous entrepreneurial potential.

This is the first edition of the event, which aims to bring the model to other peripheral territories, always addressing the doubts and needs of each community.

Confirmed speakers include: Caio França (state deputy author of the law that includes medicinal cannabis in the SUS), Tabata Amaral (federal deputy), Cris Guterres (journalist), Filipe Sabara (secretary of social development of the state of São Paulo), André Lozano (criminal lawyer), Danilo Biu (historian and vice-president of Gaviões da Fiel fans), Tatiane Cruz (social entrepreneur), Ticiana Santana (entrepreneur), Dr. Lih Vitória (peripheral scientist), and representatives from Caps Einstein.

Another important point of Legado Talks is the inclusion of the debate on the various uses of the plant. To discuss the topic, social entrepreneur and co-founder of the event, Tatiane Cruz, founder of Galáxia Beauty, will lead one of the panels alongside Ticiana Santana, founder of CBeDifferent. The launch of the collaboration focuses on income generation, female entrepreneurship, and historical reparation.

“The partnership between the brands to promote such a disruptive event is very powerful. The topics addressed are urgent; discussing development, income generation, and historical reparation within such an expressive community as Paraisópolis, in the heart of Morumbi, is about being accessible and promoting real inclusion,” says Tatiane.

Legado Talks inaugurates the Legado Hub, the first coworking space in Paraisópolis. An ecosystem of engaged members who operate in various areas of social, cultural, and environmental entrepreneurship, encouraging solutions for development, income generation, historical reparation, and a positive impact legacy in peripheral territories.
