The third edition of Cannabis Thinking, the main business event in the legal cannabis market in Latin America, will bring together over 60 experts from Brazil and abroad in São Paulo on October 23. On the agenda are new businesses around the medicinal and industrial use of cannabis, as well as the scenario in Brazil and the region. The conference will be held at CIVI-CO, a socio-environmental civic impact hub located in São Paulo. The event is organized by The Green Hub, the first Brazilian consultancy and accelerator with a specific focus on the cannabis industry, co-organized by the Center of Excellence in Cannabinoids (CEC) and the Institute of Social and Economic Research on Cannabis (IPSEC).

The guest lineup includes researchers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, politicians, and professionals, as well as experts in the plant's universe and its potential for medicine, industry, and the economy as a whole.

Attendees will have the opportunity to gain a global overview, as well as insights into the Brazilian and Latin American cannabis markets. The challenges involving legislation on the subject will also be addressed at the event, as well as the possibilities of cannabis for agribusiness, industry, and healthcare, including entrepreneurship and businesses of all sizes.

Another important theme of the meeting encompasses startups in the cannabis world, which will present innovative solutions. The impact of cannabis and social cohesion will also be discussed, along with the latest scientific advances in the plant's medical use and business prospects in this market segment.

Opportunities - "Cannabis Thinking 2021 will bring participants a rich experience of content, debates, and, of course, many business opportunities in all sectors," says Alex Lucena, partner and CIO of The Green Hub. According to him, it is a unique opportunity for the public to get to know and delve into the business universe that this plant provides.

Lucena points out that, like in previous editions, this year's Cannabis Thinking will feature a true selection of experts, including renowned personalities in the cannabis market in Brazil and abroad. In interactive and content-rich panels, they will ensure a high level of information for the market.

Among the speakers are neuroscientist Sidarta Ribeiro; scientist and entrepreneur Fabrício Pamplona; as well as Pedro Pierro, neurosurgeon and medical director of the Center of Excellence in Cannabinoids; and Stevens Rehen, neuroscientist and professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Other confirmed presences include cardiologist Willian Dib, former president of Anvisa and public health specialist; neurologist Rubens Wajnsztejn; and pediatric neurologists Daniela Bezerra and Flávio Geraldes, among other healthcare specialists.

Representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, such as Merck's Latam Business Development Manager Amanda Anselmi Baumgartner, and the CEO of the Bahiafarma Foundation for Scientific Research and Technological Development, Supply, and Distribution of Medicines, Tiago Moraes, will also share their experiences with the audience at the event.

The meeting will also feature the experiences of those who have invested in businesses in the sector. Representatives of startups will show the paths and opportunities in this emerging market in the country. For example, Sergio Rocha, founder of Adwa Cannabis Research and Development; Murilo Gouveia, founder of CannaPag; and Poliana Rodrigues, founder of Blazing Beauty Brasil, among others. The president of the National Association of Industrial Hemp, Rafael Arcuri, will discuss investment prospects in the industrial segment of cannabis.

Foreigners - The Brazilian cannabis market is of interest worldwide, and foreign presence is a hallmark of the event. At this year's Cannabis Thinking, highlights include the governor of the Argentine Province of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales. The president of the Industrial Hemp Chamber of Paraguay, Marcelo Demp, and the founder and first president of the Chamber of Medicinal Cannabis Companies of Uruguay, Marco Argota, will showcase some of the cannabis businesses in their respective countries.

Sebastian Marroquin, Colombian architect and writer, son of Pablo Escobar, will also be one of the event's speakers. He will share his perspective on peace through drugs, the antithesis of his father, who was one of the icons of the so-called war on drugs.

This year, the most important business event in the cannabis market in Latin America returns to in-person format, following all safety protocols. The venue, with a capacity for over a thousand people, will host around 250 attendees for Cannabis Thinking.

Two stages - The program will be broadcast simultaneously from two stages, through screens installed in various spaces of CIVI-CO. With the theme #GreenTransforms, the lectures will take place on the "Stage 5.0" and the "Health & Science Stage."

From Stage 5.0, the audience can follow, in person or from anywhere in CIVI-CO, an overview of the market, the regulatory evolution in the country, business opportunities, and entrepreneurship related to cannabis. On the Health & Science Stage, the focus will be on scientific advances and the medicinal application of cannabis, among other topics related to health and science. In both stages, the startups present will showcase the innovation being developed by technology-based companies in Brazil.

Amidst the intense program, there will be a break to relax. Participants can enjoy an exhibition of paintings with the theme "Nature," promoted by Galeria Barco on the second floor of CIVI-CO. These and other spaces also provide good networking opportunities focused on the promising cannabis market.
