In a move considered historic, the Argentine province of Chaco has just integrated into the national framework of medicinal cannabis and industrial hemp by unanimously approving adherence to National Law 27,669.
The decision, made in early October by the local Legislative Assembly, represents more than just a legal alignment: it is a step towards organizing the productive chain, ensuring safe access to therapies, and generating employment and income for the population.

With the adherence, Chaco will now coordinate authorizations and supervise its activities with national authorities, creating a structure that ensures tracking and security from cultivation to dispensing at pharmacies. The model, inspired by other Argentine provinces, aims to reduce informality and expand the reach of cannabis-based therapies, currently mainly used in domestic and community contexts.

Additionally, on October 29, the debate on Provincial Law Project 1,442 is scheduled, which proposes the creation of the Chaco Cannabis and Hemp Agency. The agency will be responsible for coordinating local public policies, promoting research, supporting cooperatives, and ensuring that the benefits of the new green economy reach fairly and regulated.
