Today, at the Medical Cannabis Fair and the Brazilian Medicinal Cannabis Congress, events taking place at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, a merger was announced. Dr. Cannabis and Cannect, an exhibitor at the Medical Cannabis Fair and sponsor of the Brazilian Medicinal Cannabis Congress, announced they are in the process of combining businesses. In the agreement reached this week, Dr. Cannabis, a platform providing access to medicinal cannabis in Brazil since 2018, will become part of Cannect's healthtech ecosystem as its education vertical.

Dr. Cannabis will continue to be led by its founder, Viviane Sedola, one of the speakers at the Brazilian Medicinal Cannabis Congress, and will focus on educating about the medicinal use of cannabis. "Dr. Cannabis was a pioneer in creating content, courses, events, and relevant information about the medicinal use of cannabis. Education is essential to achieve our mission of democratizing access to cannabis-based treatments, and we are pleased to have Viviane's experience leading this vertical," says Allan Paiotti, CEO of Cannect.

The integration of doctors, patients, brands, and cannabis-based products available in both companies strengthens the Cannect ecosystem as a leader in the integrated offering of cannabis-based treatments in Brazil, focusing on improving the quality of life of its patients. "Providing the structure and experience in the healthcare field that Cannect possesses, along with its coordinated care solutions that enhance the benefits of each patient's treatment, to the thousands of patients and doctors who trust Dr. Cannabis, is of great value," comments Viviane Sedola.

Dr. Cannabis, now as an education vertical of Cannect, is already planning the third edition of CNABIS - Medicinal Cannabis Congress for 2022, which has already had over 26,000 participants since 2020, as well as new classes of its Medicinal Cannabis from Scratch course for doctors and other professional training initiatives to meet the demands of the medicinal cannabis market in Brazil.

The strengthening of the Cannect ecosystem drives the growth of the medicinal cannabis market in Brazil. “We have a very associative mindset. We believe that combining efforts can help accelerate the sector's maturity in the country, creating a healthy and sustainable sector focused on customer health,” adds Fernando Domingues, Head of New Business and Strategic Partnerships at Cannect.

“We completed a R$10 million investment round earlier this year to accelerate our organic growth and expansion. In January 2022, we incorporated Cannalize, the leading portal in Brazil for producing content on medicinal cannabis, and this integration of Dr. Cannabis into our ecosystem reinforces our commitment to the sector and strengthens our position as a protagonist in the development of this market,” adds Allan Paiotti.
