Company launches cannabis-infused tampon
With a promise to reduce menstrual cramps, the product created by Startup Daye contains CBD in its composition

The English startup Daye, led by women, develops gynecological health solutions in the market. The CBD-infused tampon (cannabidiol, one of the active principles found in cannabis sativa) promises to relieve pain after 15 to 20 minutes of use.
According to the manufacturer, the formula created to alleviate menstrual discomfort provides the calming benefits of cannabis directly at the site of pain. As described on the company's website: "the product activates certain cannabinoid receptors in the pelvic region and acts directly on the immune system and nerve endings of the uterus, cervix, ovaries, and muscle tissues to relieve pain. Daye's tampon is the only one that has obtained ISO 13485 certification, which means it meets the highest possible standards for medical devices.
Founded in 2018, its products are already used by 60,000 women in the UK and has completed a funding round of $11.5 million (R$60.94 million), which will be used to drive Daye's expansion in the US market, with investments also coming from the global venture capital company MassMutual Ventures and the Canadian venture capital firm Cross Border Impact Ventures.

A recent study revealed positive results from a six-month randomized clinical trial on the effects of cannabidiol on menstruation-related symptoms.
The study was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Jessica G. Irons and Morgan L. Ferretti at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Nearly 75% of reproductive-aged participants reported unpleasant symptoms related to menstruation, ranging from cramps and bloating, back pain and mood swings, to irritability and stress.

The company launched microbiome or microenvironment screening tests in November, which can detect diseases related to STIs (sexually transmitted infections), such as HPV, vaginal infections, as well as fertility, pregnancy complications, and in vitro fertilization.
