The 4th Federal Court of São José do Rio Preto granted a favorable decision to Biomagistral, recognizing the right of the compounding pharmacy network to produce and dispense formulations containing Cannabidiol (CBD) under medical prescription in one of its units. 

“Implementing the prescription of Cannabidiol within compounding pharmacies opens up a vast universe of pharmaceutical possibilities," says Myrcieli Marconatto, the company's owner.

"We can formulate the active ingredient in a format that best suits each patient — whether in drops, gummies, sprays, chocolates, etc. This greatly facilitates the patient's adherence to the treatment over time, by offering the medication in a comfortable format," she adds.

According to Marconatto, another relevant aspect of the compounding's entry into this market is the more competitive price. This reduces the cost of treatment for families that depend on it.

The fight for access to cannabis products

Myrcieli is the mother of Heitor, 9 years old, a child with autism level 3 and Down syndrome.

Myrcieli reports receiving monthly requests from countless families who do not know exactly how to access the medication. She dedicates her time to assist and clarify all she can, often on weekends.

“Time always ends up extending in the face of difficulties, and the patient takes a long time — and often cannot — to access the medication," she concludes.
