Distribution project of cannabis-based medications presented in municipality of Bahia
Bill No. 046/2024 proposes the creation of a municipal policy for the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes in Camaçari
Proposals and requests for improvements in various areas of administration in Camaçari, Bahia, were highlighted during the 6th Ordinary Session of the Municipal Chamber, held on Thursday (19). Among the Bills presented was Bill No. 046/2024, authored by Councilman Dilson Magalhães Júnior, which proposes the creation of a municipal policy for the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes.
The proposal aims to include in the list of medications at public municipal health units, private or SUS-contracted, products based on cannabis, both Full Spectrum and isolated cannabidiol (CBD) and/or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The medication, which would be distributed free of charge, can be obtained by patients who prove financial incapacity to acquire it.
In addition, the presentation of a medical prescription, detailed report with the description of the case, ICD of the disease, justification for the use of the medication, and prescription regarding the therapeutic alternatives available in SUS and previous treatments will be required.
The Bill was prepared for the municipal Justice and Health committees, and awaits further processing to return to the Camaçari Chamber.
