Dr. Cannabis announces the 4th online edition of the CNABIS Congress

The event will take place on November 12 and 13, offering a comprehensive program on the medicinal use of the plant

The 4th edition of CNABIS is approaching, an online and free event aimed at the health community, focusing on the discussion of medicinal cannabis, its benefits, and application methods. The event is organized by the Dr. Cannabis platform, which has been active in the market for 7 years with over 10,000 enrolled students.

Part of the business group Cannect, the event is part of the medical education calendar focusing on cannabinoid therapy. Since 2015, healthcare professionals in Brazil have been able to prescribe and patients can legally treat themselves with cannabis through authorization from the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA).

According to its organizers, the objectives are to disseminate knowledge about medicinal cannabis not only to prescribing doctors and dentists but also to other healthcare professionals such as nurses, psychologists, and physiotherapists. Additionally, Dr. Cannabis offers specialized courses for different health and business areas, reaching an even larger audience. With over 20 panels led by experts, the program will be divided into four thematic blocks.

The first block provides an introduction to the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), its functions and receptors, as well as discussing access to cannabis in Brazil and future perspectives. On the 12th, the second block will be aimed at professionals taking their first steps in the field of medicinal cannabis, representing the majority of healthcare professionals in Brazil. It is estimated that less than 8% of doctors use Cannabis as a therapeutic option for their patients. This block will cover the main fundamentals, basic indications, prescription, adverse effects, drug interactions, and dosages. It will also include specific lectures for dentists and address the legal and regulatory aspects in medical practice.

On the 13th, the congress continues with a multidisciplinary approach, including lectures on psychology and mental health, nutritional aspects, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, as well as exploring the role of cannabis from an integrative perspective focused on longevity. The fourth and final block will bring advanced discussions on pharmacology, the use of cannabimimetics, nutraceuticals, and terpenes, as well as addressing the growing use of psychedelics in the field of mental health, a topic gaining prominence both in Brazil and globally.

The speakers will be:

• Fabricio Pamplona, scientist and PhD in Pharmacology, international reference in the medicinal use of Cannabis;

• Paula Dall Stella, postgraduate in Neuro-oncology and member of the Medicinal Cannabis Nucleus at Hospital Sírio-Libanês;

• Emilio Figueiredo, lawyer and co-founder of Rede Reforma, an institution elected to represent civil society in the National Drug Policy Council;

• Michele Honoratto, specialist in medical clinic from the University of Southern Santa Catarina;

• Artur de Eça, specialist in Medicinal Cannabis applied to psychology and mental health;

• Thomas Helfenstein, physiatrist at the Hospital das Clínicas da FMUSP, and;

• Guilherme Marques, specialized in Family Health from the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp). These are just a few of the many experts who will participate in the event, sharing their knowledge and experiences with the healthcare community.
