The death of young Charlotte Figi, 13, a symbol of medicinal Cannabis, has moved the cannabis community.

Charlotte's and her family's struggle against epileptic seizures due to Dravet Syndrome gained worldwide attention when they found a strain with low THC and high CBD content, the ideal treatment that gave Charlotte a chance for a better quality of life over the past eight years.

Girl symbolizing medicinal Cannabis in the world has died

On social media, the outpouring of emotion and gratitude filled the posts in tribute to Charlotte. Cidinha, president of the Cannabis and Health Association, Cultive, made a post on her Instagram saying: "Charlotte was my North and my hope in 2013, when I was desperate in search of relief for Clárian [Cidinha's daughter who also has Dravet Syndrome]. It was with Charlotte that I discovered the therapeutic power of marijuana."

Therefore, it is not wrong to say that today Cultive serves hundreds of families seeking cannabis treatment for their children thanks to the story of little Charlotte, who even lends her name to the strain she was treated with, Charlotte's Web.

"You were my inspiration. Your story changed our lives and those of many families around the world. Thank you for your mission," Cidinha's post also states.

Viviane Sedola, CEO of Dr. Cannabis, also paid tribute to the global symbol of medicinal Cannabis. On her account, Sedola stated: "And the drive for fair, affordable, and quick access to Cannabis remains alive. Rest in peace, Charlotte, nothing was in vain."

On the Instagram account of Apepi (Association for Support of Research and Patients of Medicinal Cannabis), Charlotte was also honored. "A child who brought us much hope and opened the doors for medicinal Cannabis treatment for thousands of people around the world... A life full of light that illuminated many others and will always be remembered," the post says.
