Event in Panama could turn the country into a pharmaceutical hub for cannabis
Experts, executives, medical professionals, and political figures come together to explore the economic and scientific development opportunities of the plant ecosystem

On September 1 and 2, the LATAM CannBiz event takes place, addressing the scientific and technological advancements of the global cannabis market and its medicinal and industrial uses. With over 40 experts from the global sector, the event is held in Panama and aims to bring together the major players in the cannabis universe with the country's industry.
In October 2021, Panama adopted legal framework No. 242, regulating the medicinal and therapeutic use of cannabis as well as its import, export, and cultivation, creating a registry of patients, experts, and companies in the Latin country.
According to Noemí Pérez, president of PRMedCann.Biz, a consultancy focused on the cannabis industry: "Panama has enormous competitive advantages and can quickly become a hub for import and export worldwide. The combination of elements such as its ports and logistics platform, its robust banking sector, and the confidence that its legal framework offers to markets, creates a perfect environment for the country to strengthen its local market and the Latin American region".
It is also estimated that the industry could generate an economic impact of around $30 million for the country with market advancements.
The event, featuring a bilingual interdisciplinary conference, will address global and regional trends, generating discussions where participants can share their views on the positive impact of regulating medicinal use in neighboring countries, such as Puerto Rico.
