General Villas-Bôas defends medicinal cannabis and talks about social hypocrisy
Former commander of the Brazilian Army faces a degenerative neuromotor disease that attacks the muscles and causes rapid loss of movement
General Eduardo Villas-Bôas, former commander of the Army and current special advisor to the Institutional Security Cabinet (GSI) of the Presidency of the Republic, confirmed in an exclusive interview with SBT that he will use a device with eye communication technology.
Since 2016, he has been facing a degenerative neuromotor disease that attacks the muscles and has caused him to lose movement rapidly. At risk of losing his speech, Villas-Bôas already practices other forms of communication through new technologies, such as hand-free devices - which allow him to move and click the mouse with his mouth. The general has also adapted to two other products that use mouth and eye movements to receive commands.
Villas-Bôas even defended the use of cannabidiol (a marijuana-based medication) and sees the difficulty in obtaining this medicine in Brazil as a "social hypocrisy."
