House Speaker creates commission to amend Drug Law on cannabis-based medicines

The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), created on Thursday (13) a special commission that may amend the Drug Law regarding the commercialization of medicines based on marijuana.

This group will aim to provide an opinion on Bill 399/15, authored by Deputy Fábio Mitidieri (PSD-SE), which amends Law 11.343/06 to, according to Maia, "enable the commercialization of medicines containing extracts, substrates, or parts of Cannabis sativa in their formulation", as written by the parliamentarian himself.

This commission will be composed of 34 titular members and an equal number of alternates.
