Khiron invests in education platform for Latin America
The course provides basic information about Cannabis, clinical studies, and applied scientific evidence

An online learning platform focused on medicinal Cannabis for Latin America, exclusive to healthcare professionals, will be launched this year. The initiative begins in Colombia and then expands to countries with advanced regulations, such as Uruguay. In Brazil, there is still no set date for the platform to start operating.
The announcement was made by Khiron, a Cannabis company, on Friday (14), during a meeting with Brazilian federal deputies Luciano Ducci (PSB-PR), Paulo Costa (PTB-PA), and Paulo Teixeira (PT-SP), in Bogotá, Colombia, at the office located in the leafy neighborhood of El Chicó – the equivalent of Jardins in São Paulo. "The market needs well-prepared doctors," said CEO Álvaro Torres.
The deputies are part of the Cannabis study commission set up in the Chamber of Deputies to study and develop regulations for the national market. They were in the city for work. The trip was a field study to expand the knowledge of legislators, who exchanged experiences and discussed obstacles and advances in the markets. Their challenge is to present a regulatory proposal in April.
Khiron operates in Colombia. It was founded six years ago – and since everything in this business is new, it can be considered a veteran in the market. In 2018, the company went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canada. Currently, it invests in research, cultivation, production of medicinal Cannabis, cosmetics manufacturing, and now opens another business opportunity with online education.
How the platform works
The course will have 13 modules, including basic information about Cannabis and, in the end, clinical studies and applied scientific evidence. "Only healthcare professionals can participate," said Torres.
At the end, students receive a certificate. "Investing in education is one of the most important aspects of the company. Doctors need to be prepared for medicinal Cannabis."
In Brazil, there are companies operating in this sector, such as OnixCann/Cantera. However, the courses are still face-to-face and have a shorter format.

In Colombia, Khiron's e-learning platform debuts in the third quarter of the year. In Brazil, the company already has a partner in the business.
Who is it? Torres keeps it a secret. "I can't reveal it yet." Okay. But when does it launch here? "As soon as the new country regulation is approved."
No one can guarantee how long it will take for the project to become law. Torres is optimistic. He believes it could still happen in 2020. Let's wait and see.
