Lawsuits for Cannabis treatments surge in SP

The number of lawsuits against the Department of Health of São Paulo for the funding of treatments based on medicinal Cannabis increased by 55.5% in 2020 compared to last year. The information comes from journalist Joana Cunha, from the Painel S.A. column of the Folha de São Paulo newspaper.

Among the lawsuits, there is a request to purchase 480 bottles of cannabidiol for a year of use for about R$ 230,000. So far, with two months left in the year, there are 158 cases, compared to 122 filed in 2019.

The number of cases in recent years shows a strong upward trend. In 2017, there were only 21 cases. In 2018, the total reached 67, three times more than the previous year.
