LIVE: Cannabis committee in the Chamber hears from Osmar Terra
Minister is one of the main critics of Anvisa's proposal for regulation of cultivation in Brazil and maintains that "medicinal marijuana does not exist"
The special committee created to discuss Bill 399/15, which deals with the commercialization of medicines made with Cannabis sativa, is holding a new public hearing this afternoon, with the presence of health experts. The Minister of Citizenship, Osmar Terra, confirmed his presence at the meeting, as stated in the politician's public agenda.
Terra is one of the main critics of Anvisa's proposal for the regulation of cannabis cultivation for medicinal and research purposes. In the politician's view, "medicinal marijuana does not exist". He advocates for the exclusive use of synthetic cannabidiol and disregards the medicinal effects of THC. For this reason, the minister's presence at the hearing is highly anticipated. The hearing started at 2:47 PM.
