Actress Margaret Qualley, known for her role in Maid and daughter of the legendary Andie MacDowell, recently revealed her use of cannabis as a way to relieve anxiety before filming one of the most challenging scenes in her new film, 'The Substance'. The movie, featuring Demi Moore, is a psychological thriller that explores issues of aging, aesthetics, and the impact of the entertainment industry on women's lives.

During an interview with The Sunday Times, Qualley shared the stress she faced preparing for a specific scene, where she would need to perform a sensual choreography while wearing provocative gym attire. The 29-year-old actress admitted that this kind of sensuality 'doesn't match' her personality, leading her to seek ways to deal with the discomfort. 'I cried in the bathroom during rehearsals,' she confessed, mentioning that on the day of filming, she turned to cannabis and tequila to calm her nerves and face the cameras.

Margaret Qualley's use of cannabis is a growing example among artists who see the plant as a natural alternative to deal with anxiety in high-pressure situations. With its well-documented anxiolytic properties, compounds in the plant such as THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol) are known to help relax and promote a sense of calm, which seems to have been crucial for the actress during the filming of 'The Substance'.

In the film, Demi Moore plays Elisabeth Sparkle, an actress in crisis due to ageism and Hollywood's aesthetic pressures, while Margaret Qualley takes on the role of Sue, a younger and more sensual version expelled from Elisabeth's body after using a mysterious substance.

The movie's release in Brazil is scheduled for today, September 19, 2024, promising to be one of the most talked-about titles, especially after its success at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film was applauded for 11 minutes.
