Netflix rides the wave of Cannabis master chefs

Shows with popular chefs are on the rise. Netflix has launched another one. The difference is that participants need to be specialized in developing delicious dishes with marijuana, an essential ingredient in all recipes. Cooked with Cannabis (in Portuguese, Receita da Boa) follows the master chef format, a competition, with three participants, judges, and a host. The winner takes home $10,000.

Singer and songwriter Kelis – author of the hit youth anthem Milkshake and the recipe book My Life on a Plate – is a judge and host of the show alongside American chef Leather Sotorrs from Portland, Oregon. Among the guest judges are actress and host Ricky Lake and comedian and singer Mary Lynn Rajskub, best known for working alongside Kiefer Sutherland on the series 24 Hours.

So far, Netflix has only released one season with six episodes. Each one is 35 minutes long. If you're expecting big brownies or chocolate cakes with marijuana, forget it. The dishes are sophisticated. For example, one of the participants makes a grilled fig appetizer with gorgonzola, balsamic, Port wine, butter, and a 3 mg Cannabis Sativa infusion sauce.

Before they start, the participants prepare a Cannabis infusion, done in oil or butter, backstage. Each one chooses their favorite type of flower. The mixture adds flavor, aroma, and an extra buzz.

The series is fun even for those who don't like to cook. Throughout the show, the judges become more and more amused as they try the different types of dishes. They get high in the air.
