The University of Brasília (UnB), in collaboration with the Brazilian Association for Treatment and Support for Medicinal Cannabis Research - Curando Ivo and the Institute of Scientific and Medicinal Plant Research - Aliança Verde, has established an important partnership with the goal of advancing research on the cultivation and development of cannabis-based products.
The research project, entitled "Variation of the phytochemical profile of Cannabis sativa L. (Cannabaceae) cultivated in current and future climatic scenarios", focuses on understanding the changes in the plant's chemical profile under different climatic conditions, aiming to create safer and more effective products for patient treatment.
"This movement is essential to expand access to cannabis-based treatments, benefiting an increasing number of patients who rely on these products for relief of their medical conditions", emphasizes Felipe Suzin, founder of Curando Ivo Association.
The collaboration, published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), is a significant milestone for the advancement of medicinal cannabis in Brazil. By combining the academic know-how of UnB with the expertise of Curando Ivo and Aliança Verde entities, the initiative seeks not only to deepen the scientific knowledge about the plant but also to ensure that the products resulting from these researches meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
