Sechat Founder Talks About New Businesses in Folha's Webinar
Event features Patrick Lane from the American fund company Benzinga to provide a global overview of businesses
This Wednesday (13), Folha de S.Paulo is organizing a webinar on New Businesses and Investments. There will be two consecutive panels as part of the Live at Home series.
The first panel starts at 5 pm and will have Daniel Jordão, founder of Sechat, the first cannabis news portal run by journalists, as a guest. The site was created to provide serious and well-researched information about everything happening in this sector – events, research, new businesses, among others.
With a background in administration, 41-year-old Jordão comes from the real estate and events industry. In 2019, he decided to invest in Sechat – a project he is working on with friends – and in the Health and Cannabis fair sector. Tomorrow, he will explain what it's like to invest in this sector, even during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He will be joined by neurosurgeon Pedro Pierro, a former prescriber of medicinal cannabis, who runs health clinics focused on treatment with plant-based medications. Additionally, he invests in an education startup that trains doctors in this relatively unexplored field.
The doctor is one of the most sought-after professionals in the sector. His involvement goes beyond that. He serves as a scientific consultant for Sechat and is also a partner in a startup incubator.
To discuss entrepreneurship in this field, Marcelo de Vita Grecco, founder of The Green Hub, showcases the variety of businesses the sector enables. "There's a lot in the industrial area, in technology, and products."
The second part of the event will focus on Investments. It starts at 5:50 pm. The highlight is the participation of Patrick Lane from Benzinga, an American investment fund company, with a digital magazine and capital events.
To talk about the national market, George Waschsmann from Vitreo, a digital investment company, which created the first product for Brazilians interested in publicly traded companies on the stock exchange.
Jose Bacellar, founder of Verdemed, a Canadian medicinal cannabis company, sheds light on another aspect of the business. He explains how startups manage to raise capital during the Covid-19 pandemic.
