SINSSP-BR integrates treatment with medical cannabis for employees
Agreement aims to address Burnout and chronic pain in employees of INSS and SPPREV through a partnership with a therapeutic association
The Union of Social Security and Social Security Workers in the State of São Paulo (SINSSP-BR) announced the inclusion of specialized medical care in medical cannabis for its members. The initiative is aimed at employees of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and workers of the São Paulo Social Security (SPPREV).
The program enables access to therapies with cannabinoids through a strategic agreement. The partnership was established between the Unified Workers' Central of São Paulo (CUT-SP) and the Therapeutic Association Medical Cannabis "Flor da Vida".
The benefit is not limited only to the holders of the positions. Access to treatment with medical cannabis also extends to the family members and dependents of public servants, expanding the reach of health care assistance.
"Indeed, the treatment and the patient's relationship with the associations operate on a more humane and fair logic. Still, for many families, it is difficult to maintain the treatment," the association said in a statement.
Focus on occupational diseases and medical cannabis
The program's focus includes the treatment of common pathologies in the public service environment, including mental disorders. The list of conditions covered includes Burnout Syndrome, anxiety, depression, and insomnia, which can be treated with medical cannabis.
In addition to mental health, the agreement addresses debilitating physical conditions. Treatments for chronic pain, Parkinson, Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), and Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WRMD) are included.
Global trend in the medical cannabis market
The union's initiative reflects an international trend towards the consolidation of the therapeutic use of the plant. According to the Risk Briefing: Cannabis 2026 report by Relm Insurance, a robust growth is projected for medical cannabis.
The study estimates that the sector will represent about 27% of the total revenue of the global industry by 2030. In this scenario, total market sales could exceed the US$ 55 billion mark.
The report notes that in mature markets like the United Kingdom, prescriptions align with the complaints of Brazilian employees. Medical cannabis is often recommended for chronic anxiety, neuropathic pain, and inflammatory conditions.
