Study finds hemp oil improves "good cholesterol" levels

Translated from High Times website

Researchers from the Center for Applied Health Sciences in Ohio, USA, and Lindenwood University in Missouri, USA, conducted a double-blind study involving 65 overweight but healthy men and women.

Participants consumed hemp oil extract or a placebo daily for six weeks, while continuing their normal diet and physical activity patterns.

The results showed that among the hemp group volunteers, HDL cholesterol significantly improved.

HDL cholesterol, which stands for "high-density lipoprotein," is recognized in the medical community as the "good cholesterol."

This is because "good cholesterol" helps remove other forms of cholesterol from the bloodstream and is associated with a lower risk of heart disease.

According to the Mayo Clinic, researchers stated that no other significant interactions were observed in the two groups.

Despite its increased commercial viability in recent years, CBD is still subject to relatively little research.

Next month, the clinical research company ValidCare will seek to fill some of these research gaps by conducting a study on the safety of CBD, particularly its effect on the liver.

The research is widely seen as having potential for the Food and Drug Administration to eventually implement in its own regulations.
