The study suggests that in some cases, the body does not produce enough endocannabinoids or receptors for the proper functioning of the system. When this happens, the body becomes unbalanced and disease arises. 

Treatment is based on controlling symptoms with hormonal contraceptives, anti-inflammatory drugs, analgesics, and even opioids in some cases. However, research suggests that cannabis may not only provide relief but also a possible treatment for the disease.

Another study published in the journals of the British Pharmacological Society found that, although THC may be more effective in pain relief, CBD can interrupt the migration of endometriotic cells.
