On September 1st, National Physical Education Professional Day is celebrated in our country, a date focused on the valorization and understanding of the various modalities that encompass this profession. Thinking about this, Sechat couldn't help but talk a little more about this relationship (cannabis and sports) that has been bearing good fruits.
Gradually, sports are removing cannabis from the prohibitive spectrum. Some major leagues have already removed the "weed" from the list of prohibited substances and are advancing in the discussion on the subject.
Do you want examples? The MLB (Major League Baseball) removed Cannabis from the list of so-called “drugs of abuse” last year. The NBA also recently announced that it will not test players for recreational drugs.

Before that, Michele Roberts, executive director of the NBPA (National Basketball Players Association), had already projected that there could be a change in perspective on cannabis in professional basketball as early as the end of 2020. With that, the scenario of evolution and developments on the subject is clear.
Cannabidiol and athletes participating in the discussion
Cannabidiol, an active ingredient extracted from the cannabis leaf, is a substance that has revolutionized the treatment of some diseases, such as epilepsy and other conditions that affect the nervous system. CBD, the acronym used to recognize the compound, has no psychotropic effect and is not addictive, yet some resist the (still) supposed benefits.
In the US, for example, it is possible to buy (and consume) various products based on the aforementioned substance. Oils, creams, and edible candies have therapeutic properties that can be applied to a range of health problems, including chronic pain and inflammation.

Advocates for the use of CBD say that this cannabis extract is safer than analgesics, especially those based on opioids, which do cause dependence. In addition to anti-inflammatory benefits, Cannabidiol can serve as an anxiolytic and analgesic.
In the meantime, cannabidiol has been increasingly adopted in the routines of important athletes. This team includes American football star Megan Rapinoe, golf legend Tiger Woods, through gum with the substance, among others.
Skateboarder Bob Burnquist, owner of fourteen X Games gold medals, has long been fighting for the legalization of medicinal cannabis use. In the US, he has even launched his own CBD brand, Farmaleaf.
Another sports giant with a connection to marijuana is former boxer Mike Tyson. He may still return to the ring, but outside of it, he has built an empire from the herb that helped him out of bankruptcy.

Cannabis is a medicine. At this moment of world intelligence, at this moment of life, they should know that cannabis is not a drug.
