Tomorrow's guest on the live stream, February 8th, airing on our Instagram channel at 7pm, will be Dr. William Dib, a physician, politician, and former president of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
A graduate of the Medical School at UNESP in Botucatu, the physician, born in the city of Garça in the interior of São Paulo, worked as a politician holding the position of Secretary of Public Health of the Municipal Government of São Bernardo do Campo, where he also served as mayor from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, the cardiologist was a Federal Deputy for São Paulo from 2011 to 2015. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Public Health and Hospital Administration from the University of Ribeirão Preto (UNAERP), where he specialized in cardiology.
In 2016, he joined Anvisa as a director, where he spent one year and ten months before assuming the agency's presidency in 2018. At the agency, William Dib was responsible for expediting the process of regulating the medicinal use of cannabis in Brazil, being one of the contributors to RDC 327/2019, which authorizes the manufacturing, importation, commercialization, prescription, as well as dispensing, monitoring, and inspection of cannabis products for medicinal purposes in the country.
Issues such as the emergence of regulations, their most important determinations, the laws they comply with, necessary documentation for obtaining authorization for importation and cultivation for research and medical use, as well as expiration dates and future prospects, will be some of the topics discussed.

As usual, the live stream will be moderated by our scientific director, Dr. Pedro Pierro, who has been working with medicinal cannabis for over seven years, having been one of the first prescribing physicians of the therapy in Brazil. In addition to practical experience on the subject, he has participated in numerous conferences and courses in Brazil and abroad, including activities with the Israeli researcher considered the "father of Medicinal Cannabis," Raphael Mechoulam.
