Uruguay exports 10 tons of cannabis to Australia for $40 million

Uruguay made history! The South American country exported 10 tons of cannabis to Australia for medicinal use and also with a high THC content.

According to local sources, the government plans for the country to become the world's first exporter in a large-scale industrial scheme.

"This means the end of drug policies as they have existed for the last 50 or 60 years and the beginning of a new era of rational cannabis use," said Jordan Lewis, director of the export company Fotmer.

According to the entrepreneurs, they plan to follow export routes worldwide, emphasizing Europe and Australia. They also indicated that, to reach this point, they needed to generate a highly complicated logistics that required nine months of work.

The company that carried out this historic event is called Fotmer and directly employs 170. Their products are creams, capsules, and medicinal oils.

For this, they sow, extract, and research the best methods to achieve it. According to experts, "marijuana flowers used for medicinal purposes do not differ from those used for recreational purposes". However, the controls and quality care are very different due to medical industry regulations.

These types of products can be used for the treatment of various diseases, such as refractory epilepsy, arthritis, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, chemotherapy side effects, stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and much more.

For this, flowers with high levels of CBD and THC are used. Since 2013, Uruguay has enabled all types of regulations for the medicinal and recreational part. The government predicted at the time that this sector would bring great economic benefits to the country.
