Sure, you've heard of other cannabinoids and compounds that are quickly gaining popularity these days. But what about Delta-10 THC?

Well, scientists classify this substance as Delta-10-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-10-THC, Δ 10 -THC, also numbered Δ 2 -THC) is a synthetic isomer of tetrahydrocannabinol, developed in the 1980s.

The focus is no longer just on THC and CBD, my friends. There is much more in the world of cannabis than these two primary compounds. But today we are going to talk about Delta-10 THC, and why we think it could be the future of cannabis.

Delta-10 is the molecular sibling of Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC. However, it is often not a natural compound of cannabis. Unlike its siblings, it appears in such minuscule amounts that intentionally extracting it from hemp or cannabis strains would require a lot of time and effort. In many cases, Delta-10 is so elusive that it is not uncommon for scientists and laboratories to mistake it for other compounds when searching for it using high-performance liquid chromatography, which is the standard for compound testing, explains Extraction Magazine.

How was it discovered?

Delta-10 THC was accidentally discovered by a California cannabis company called Fusion Farms. They purchased outdoor cannabis for concentrate production. However, wildfires increased in California and, unbeknownst to them, they bought plant biomass that was already contaminated with fire retardants.

After extracting the biomass and distilling the extract, they found strange crystals in this mixture. This discovery surprised the researchers, as the crystals were unlike anything they had encountered before. So, they conducted an analysis that found the crystals were cannabinoids, although the analysis was not an exact match. They then enlisted the help of a licensed analytical laboratory to compare the data with all known cannabinoids and still could not find a match, which persisted for a few months.

Apparently, THC Delta-10 formed due to the presence of fire retardant. But don't worry about consuming these toxins; nowadays, laboratories can already produce Delta-10 using clean and green techniques. For example, some even use food-grade additives to make Delta-10 THC from Delta-9 THC.

How does Delta-10-THC act in the body? Can it make me "high"?

Since Delta-10 THC is a specific form of THC responsible for the euphoric effect of cannabis, consuming this THC variant can be expected to have some psychoactive effect. But an animal study found that the Delta-10 high is not as strong as Delta-9 THC. So far, there is little data on its effects on the body.

David Reckles, from Private Label Hemp Lab, said ACS Laboratory that Delta-10 can get you "high," but not as high as Delta-8 or Delta-9. Of these delta compounds, Delta-9 has the strongest effect on how we perceive pleasure, thinking, coordination, and even memory, but Delta-8 is less potent, with users reporting mild stimulation, appetite, and relaxation.

Delta-10 is similar to Delta-8 in being very mellow, although the impact of the two is very different.

I would compare Delta-10 to a sativa in terms of effects, while Delta-8 is more of an indica.

He says his clients use Delta-8 to help with sleep issues, while Delta-10 enhances creativity, energy, and alertness. “Delta-10 is stimulating and perfect for daytime use,” he adds.

I think Delta-10 will be extremely popular because it offers euphoria and increased focus, without the paranoia and anxiety that some users report from Delta-9.

Does this substance show up on a drug test?

The answer is yes, because it cannot yet be differentiated from other delta cannabinoids in drug tests. If you are trying to stay clean for a future test, it is best not to use delta 10 products until you are completely cleansed.

Furthermore, very little is known so far about how THC delta 10 works with the endocannabinoid system. But the theory states that it interacts in the same way as Delta 8 and Delta 9, which means it can bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors. The presence of THC delta 10 can also promote the entourage effect when you consume it with other compounds, such as cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes.

If you have any medical condition, it is always best to consult your doctor before using delta 10 THC cannabis products. Use it only if you are over 18 years old and remember that it should not be used if you have high blood pressure.

Is Delta-10-THC legal?

As with cannabis, there is a gray area, but as long as cannabis is legal in an area, delta 10 THC derived from cannabis is legal. However, it is still federally illegal when extracted from cannabis. But if Delta 10 THC is extracted from hemp and contains less than 0.3% THC, then it is legal.

Since THC delta 10 is currently present only in small amounts, researchers are continuing their work to find THC delta 10.
