The Zurich city council and the University of Zurich announced that the sale of cannabis products in pharmacies and social clubs under controlled conditions would only begin in the first half of next year. The Ministry of Health had not yet given its final approval to the project, Zuri Can - Cannabis with Responsibility, but everything indicated that the approval would still happen later this year.
The researchers are not allowed to start growing hemp without approval from the authorities, and cannabis cannot be cultivated during the winter months in the country, which is too harsh for the plant. The start of sales has been postponed to the first half of 2023.
The aim of the research is to understand the effects of a regulated supply on health and consumption behavior. Two Swiss producers will supply the project with organically grown cannabis products with different THC/CBD concentrations.
