Continuing the schedule of the business mission organized by Abiquifi, in partnership with ApexBrasil, the Brazilian delegation participated on Tuesday (11) in a technical visit to Tarkus, a Colombian company that is a reference in the production of cannabis derivatives with pharmaceutical grade.

The activity marked the second day of the mission, which aims to deepen the technical-regulatory exchange between Brazil and Colombia, focusing on the Colombian model of cultivation, extraction, and pharmaceutical production of cannabis inputs.

During the visit, participants were able to follow all stages of the production process, from the extraction of plant material to the packaging of the final product, observing in practice the standards required to ensure quality, traceability, and regulatory compliance.

According to Carolina Sellani, Head of Strategic Affairs at Abiquifi and coordinator of the Cannabis Working Group, the experience was essential to understand the dynamics between the links of the production chain.

"It was very important to observe a pharmaceutical grade production process from the extraction part to the packaging of the final product," she highlighted.

"The visit allowed us to better understand how this connection works between the company that buys the plant material and the cultivators, identifying what controls they need to ensure to be suppliers to the industry," she added.

Sellani also emphasized the relevance of the visit for the technical maturation of the Brazilian sector.

"It is a very rich experience that shows how the productive and regulatory stages integrate — from cultivation for pharmaceutical purposes to production in validated and regularized facilities," she stated.

Participating in the mission are representatives from Anvisa, Embrapa, MAPA, and the Federal Council of Chemistry (CFQ), as well as executives from companies such as Aché, Biolab, Endogen, Centro Flora, EaseLabs, Eurofarma, FarmaUSA, and Vettiva.

Also on Tuesday (11), the mission held business rounds with over 40 meetings between Brazilian and Colombian companies, strengthening commercial exchange and the formation of new strategic partnerships in the pharmaceutical sector.

In the coming days, the delegation will continue with institutional meetings and technical exchanges, promoting closer ties between authorities and companies from both countries, with the aim of strengthening regulatory dialogue and building solid references for the regulation of cannabis cultivation in Brazil.
