Metalworkers establish partnership with association to expand access to cannabis treatment
Letter was signed during an event in reference to World Autism Awareness Day, featuring Eduardo Suplicy and Paulo Teixeira
In an initiative aimed at the well-being and health of workers, the Metalworkers' Commission of ABC with Disabilities signed a letter of intent to establish a partnership with the Therapeutic Association Flor da Vida. The collaboration aims to facilitate access to cannabis treatment and expand care options for union members.
Flor da Vida, which already provides cannabis for therapeutic purposes to patients in vulnerable situations, will install a unit within the union's premises. The space will be provided free of charge, allowing members to access differentiated conditions and services.
The signing of the letter took place during an event at the union's headquarters, in reference to the World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated last Wednesday (2).
The event was attended by state deputy Eduardo Suplicy and Minister Paulo Teixeira, who highlighted the importance of making cannabis medicine a public policy to expand access to treatment.
During the event, Teixeira also emphasized the need to support Bill 399/2015, which seeks to regulate the commercialization of cannabis-based medications in Brazil. The bill is awaiting deliberation in the Board of the Chamber of Deputies.
In addition to access to cannabis treatment, the partnership between the union and Flor da Vida envisions, in the medium term, the creation of a Multidisciplinary Polyclinic. The space will offer specialized care for unionized workers, with services in occupational therapy, psychology, nutrition, physiotherapy, and other health specialties.
