"Liane Maria Pereira, 54 years old, loving mother, educator, resident of Canoas. Married to Juarez Gomes da Silva, mother of Guilherme, Isabele, and Caroline". This is how one of the main representatives of the cannabis fight in Rio Grande do Sul was introduced during the presentation of the medal of the 56th legislature.

.

The Júlio de Castilho hall of the Legislative Assembly of RS, where the educator told her story and advocated for the use of cannabis several times, was the stage for the tribute. The event took place on June 2nd and was proposed by State Deputy, Leonel Radde.

.

In her speech, Liane celebrated her journey and the partnership between her and Leonel, which began on a radio program where they both advocated for the medicinal use of cannabis. She also became emotional when mentioning her daughter and the battles won day after day:

.

"Today our fight is for everyone who needs the plant. It is for everyone to have access to medicinal cannabis and achieve the same quality of life as Carol".

.

Radd, through a poignant speech, recalled the barriers overcome by Liane and thanked the educator for all her work:

.

"She is responsible for advocating for therapeutic cannabis, bringing her example of struggle to the entire Rio Grande do Sul. This medal is still little, but it is certainly well-deserved", commented Leonel.
