The medicinal cannabis market in Brazil is in full expansion. In 2024, the sector generated R$ 853 million, representing a 22% growth compared to the previous year, when the business volume was R$ 699 million. The growth trend continues to accelerate, with projections to reach R$ 1 billion by the end of 2025, according to data from the 3rd Annual Report on Medicinal Cannabis in Brazil, published by the consulting firm Kaya Mind.
This advancement is accompanied by an increase in the supply of cannabis products in the market. Currently, more than 2,150 products are available for Brazilian patients, with approximately 1,900 obtained through importation.
Connecting the Brazilian and International Market
In May 2024, São Paulo hosted the Medical Cannabis Fair, an event that serves as an essential platform for building networks and strategic partnerships in the sector. During the event, Martín Rodriguez, strategic manager at Flextem Biopharma, highlighted that, despite the regulation still being developed, the Brazilian medicinal cannabis market is already emerging as the most promising in Latin America.
In addition to fostering partnerships between companies, the fair also provided a vital space for dialogue between industry representatives and healthcare professionals. Rodriguez emphasized that it is essential to understand the needs of doctors and provide detailed information about a wide range of available cannabinoid products in order to contribute to the sustainable growth of this expanding market.
