TJDFT hosts webinar on the provision of medical cannabis by the State

The Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal e dos Territórios (TJDFT) is hosting this Wednesday (28) the webinar Technical Note CIJDF 19/2026: provision of medical cannabis by the State in light of superior court case law. The event will be broadcast on the court's YouTube channel from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The initiative is organized by the Centro de Inteligência da Justiça do Distrito Federal (CIJDF), in partnership with the Escola de Formação Judiciária (EjuDFT). Registration is open until this Tuesday (27) via the EjuDFT website.
The webinar aims to discuss parameters for reviewing legal claims regarding the state provision of medical cannabis-based products, a topic central to the debate over the judicialization of healthcare in Brazil.
Technical note addresses judicialization of medical cannabis
The meeting is based on Technical Note CIJDF 19/2026, drafted in response to the volume and complexity of lawsuits involving access to medical cannabis-based products through the public sector.
According to the TJDFT, the document takes into account regulatory changes from the Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (Anvisa), precedents from the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) and the Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ), as well as the need to support rulings with scientific evidence and technical parameters.
The initiative is also aligned with national judicial policies focused on healthcare governance, promoted by the Conselho Nacional de Justiça (CNJ).
According to the court, the goal is to contribute to greater consistency in judicial rulings, legal certainty, and institutional efficiency, considering both the fundamental right to health and public policies, as well as the sustainability of the healthcare system.
